As this trend continues, it becomes even more imperative for colleges to be intentional about retaining their current students. At Victor Valley College, we have found a powerful solution that will be instrumental in keeping studentsengaged and enrolled in the years to come care.
As of fall 2023, 69% of the student population at CSUSB identified as Hispanic or Latino. In addition to supportservices that include financial aid and academic advising, an example of supporting Latinx student success is the CSUSB Impact Internship, developed by the university’s Undocumented Student Success Center.
Next steps: The team scheduled meetings with departments on campus that provide high-touch support to students, including academic counseling, financial aid, studentservices, outreach, special population supportservices and the tutoring center.
Tracking students' employment rates, job placement, salary levels, and acceptance into graduate programs can provide insights into their preparedness for their chosen career paths. Provide faculty development programs and supportservices to enhance instructional effectiveness.
Peer relationships, participation in campus activities, and accessibility to supportservices are all factors that can affect social integration. Institutional support: Students need a variety of resources to succeed in college, such as academic advising , tutoring, and mental health services.
