In the fall of 2018, I was a studentorganizer for affirmative action and one of eight alumni who took the federal witness stand in the lawsuit Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA), Inc. Students and alumni fought to voice the importance of race-conscious policies, campus diversity, and solidarity among communities of color.
Those changes came shortly after the hire of Dean Raul Reis, who joined the Hussman School of Journalism and Media in July 2022 with a platform that honored the values of equity and diversity.
