I did all of this while studyingabroad, and I’ll forever miss places like Peggy Porschen and Camden Market. Although I still had two years of college to complete after my studyabroad program, I immediately missed the feeling of learning just to learn. Museums and Galleries. Historical Locations. Watching Performances.
When you studyabroad , in-classroom learning is often accompanied by experiential learning. Another class of mine was about the history of Budapest and our professor took us around the city to several different locations to teach us about the history of the city and country in the context of where those events took place.
Also important are common spaces like student unions, libraries, and their events and programs, like student support organizations, and peer-to-peer relationships and service delivery. I got to work on a lot of interesting libraries and campus plans. I really enjoyed that work. But we only had one tool in our toolbox to help: space.
