I love that Hope provides flexible studentemployment opportunities for its students. Most of my friends and I have student jobs, which vary from tour guiding or overnight hosting to being a TA. From this experience, I would say that an on campus job can be both manageable and beneficial for students at Hope.
AI has been used in the UK graduate recruitment market for over a decade yet currently remains in the minority, with only 10% of Institute for StudentEmployment (ISE) members saying they use it. They also found that students tried to use it too quickly which created poor outputs that were then easy to spot.
As the SACHA team supports 30+ such student groups each year, we have gathered lessons from our experiences and the different scenarios that we often see groups encounter during the programme. Done right I passionately believe that live briefs, with their ability to test students through an authentic task, develop creative problem-solving skills, and in turn, enhancing student satisfaction, are a valuable tool. Additional time required for lectures to source the live briefs and manage the ‘clients’.
What better way for my final year students, products of the successful peer intensive curriculum, to test their skills outside of the University setting. This was a big step in students taking control of their own learning and project managing with many different stakeholders. For most it was a bumpy ride.
