Strategies are meant to build a relationship-rich education to help students feel connected and persist through graduation. “In In Fall 2022, our first faculty mentor pairings were made,” says Ben Telesca, vice president for studentaffairs, SRSU. The program began in Spring 2023 with 153 students, 87 of whom were Hispanic.
Programs include the university’s “earn and learn,” which provides funding for off-campus internships, undergraduate research, studyabroad, service learning, and cohort programs that serve particular student groups. Partnering with high schools that serve predominantly Latino students reinforces accessibility.
