That is a very long title to say basically our office is responsible for institutionalresearch, institutional assessment, as well as some components of academic technology. You both had the opportunity to share at our large EAB annual conference and present your work on a systemic approach to student success.
Institutionalresearch staff members collect and assess data about the college to help with internal decision making and to inform external audiences. Their work focuses on analyzing enrollment, staffing and financial data about the institution. Program assessment is another responsibility of institutionalresearch offices.
Project-based learning A growing trend in online learning, this approach allows students to research, present and share their ideas to demonstrate real-world skills. However, their resistance tends to be due to the following: Faculty lose control of the presentation of the materials. Program and course development.
All cohorts ended with presentations of the fellows’ capstone projects. In each session, the fellows gained depth in new topics or terrains, developed leadership skills, and built a network with peers from institutions across the country. In many cases, partners jointly completed a project that benefitted both institutions.
Also important are common spaces like student unions, libraries, and their events and programs, like student support organizations, and peer-to-peer relationships and service delivery. I got to work on a lot of interesting libraries and campus plans. I really enjoyed that work. But we only had one tool in our toolbox to help: space.
