Austin Community College (ACC) will offer free food, housingservices, and family support as part of an effort to strengthen student services, KXAN reported. The Care Center in particular will be offering help when it comes to transportation, weekly groceries, and legal aid.
A 2022 national report from the Center for Community College Student Engagement (CCCSE) notes that community college students often deal with housing insecurity, which was exacerbated by the pandemic — 14% of study respondents were classified as housing insecure. There is a reduced monthly rent payment, to which CCC contributes.
