If a student is doing a project on bat conservation, they might shadow a bat conservationist out in the field to gather more information about the topic as it plays out in real life. Students can interview their community experts, shadow them, have the expert teach them a skill, or work with them on a concept in-person or virtually.

I was immediately interested because this year’s Conference, titled, ‘Investigate, inquire, innovate: exploring research-informed teaching practice’ aimed to celebrate diverse learning and teaching practices by adopting the lens of SoTL (Scholarship of Learning and Teaching). The first day of the Conference was in-person at the venue.
