USC will reinstate alumni status to 1,600+ graduates. Why was it ever revoked?

Students who graduated from USC with a graduate certificate in 2000 onward were positive they’d be recognized as USCAA members and granted access to its exclusive perks. I took that to be mandatory, and it led to many staff being moved to ‘teaching only’ contracts. My bad, perhaps.
