On a wider scale, the University offers specialist support in the form of the CounsellingService, Careers Service, and the DisabilityService. My role within the DisabilityService is as a Mental Health Mentor, a post I have held for 8 years.
Supporting students to flourish at university- enabling them to maintain positive mental health and a healthy lifestyle- facilitates strong academic outcomes.
Some highlights from the last reporting cycle are as follows… Sharing complex student casework Several services have experienced an increase in demand from students facing complex welfare or mental health issues in the past couple of years. The list goes on.
For welfare support, we offer the StudentCounsellingService , a Personal Tutor and Student Support Office, the DisabilityService and the Chaplaincy Centre (you are welcome to use this service if you are of any or no religion!).
The University of Edinburgh has created a dedicated Health and Wellbeing Centre for students. The fully accessible centre houses the main bases for StudentCounselling , StudentDisabilityService , the Equally Safe team, the University Health Centre , and an independent pharmacy.
