We identified space in the year 1 curriculum that would allow for a formal teaching and learning opportunity on physical activity for health. We were keen to develop a flipped classroom approach , and the students were enthusiastic about this when we discussed it with them at the initial team meeting.

In addition to this, they are encouraged to attend a series of workshops that aim to develop their research skills, and to provide them with opportunities to develop communities of practice with students who are researching similar topics. I now believe in my organisational skills and that I can be pro-active in gaining funding.

These were questions we helped to answer over the summer, as Research Assistants on the Classroom Practices and Lecture Recording project , which was funded by the Principal’s Teaching Award Scheme. It builds on the Framework for Interactive Learning in Lectures (FILL) developed by Wood et al.
