As workforce demands shift, higher education institutions must ensure professionals can upskill efficiently, meeting local labor market needs while driving economic mobility.

Among the first objectives in Kansas State’s 2023 strategic plan is to enroll 5,000 to 7,000 alternative credential-seeking learners by 2030 across continuingeducation courses, micro-credentials and industry training collaboratives.

We used Credential Engine data, which is the largest national registry on credentials, and then some publicly available education, higher education data from IPEDs to extract information about program cost, location, and indirect costs. We wanted to be able to look, take a look at that data by state and by credential type.
