It was early in 2017 when our StudentLife department received the approval we had been waiting for – we were embarking on a journey to make the University of Guelph-Humber a CliftonStrengths campus and I was tasked with leading the project. All these branding efforts led to greater awareness of our CS program amongst students.

As well as sending students out into schools as language ambassadors, it is also important to invite school classes into the university so that pupils can gain some first-hand experience of studentlife on campus. One event we regularly run in October and November is our “speed-date a language student” project.
They provide students with the opportunity to learn about and engage with their campus community. They are also a great way for students to broaden their social circle, making connections with fellow students and staff. These events help students get involved in campus life and foster a sense of belonging from day one.
