One of the area of foci for the college is enhancing its careerservices area. NC Wesleyan starts helping students think about their career from the day they step foot on campus, e.g., what does your resume look like, are you prepared to do an interview, do you understand what a cover letter is or etiquette dinners, job fairs, etc.
To be fair to universities and others, you have an overworked careerservice department that is trying to get as many local companies as possible to engage with the university. A higher number of internships or a greater supply of internships should lead to a more correlated and better-aligned match between the student and employer.
When I worked in enrollmentmanagement, inquiries were one of the most difficult categories of students to capture and communicate with. Referrals from social services agencies and community-based organizations. Lapsed applicants who applied but did not enroll. Community members who leverage careerservices resources.
