Hope has a ton of ways to get involved on campus, and I’m here to highlight them. Clubs There are a ton of clubs on campus. There’s a pretty comprehensive list on Hope’s website, but you’ll also see them advertised around campus. Many clubs on campus allow you to come and go as you’re able to, so there’s no pressure.
Faith is an evident and encouraging part of life on campus, from weekly services, to CampusMinistries , to student-led Bible studies. The beautiful part about faith on campus is that nothing is stifling or obligatory, but an open invitation for students to either explore or grow their faith.
Each team can provide services such as leading out in church services, youth events, and other programs where they can inspire other young people to become worship leaders themselves. How can academies and churches be involved with Connect Ministries? We usually send out a small team with a maximum of 10 members for each visit/event.
In every dorm, RAs put on different events such as weekly pancake nights that help students have a home base, even when living away from home. Outside of the dorm, Counseling and Psychological Services and CampusMinistries chaplains are helpful resources that offer support in the transition to independent living.
Hope’s CampusMinistries team organizes corporate worship (chapel and the Gathering), small group Bible studies , campusevents, and an annual tradition called Immersion Trips. On these trips, groups of students travel across the globe to serve God and be immersed in new cultures over spring break.
Downtown hosts a few “Shop ’til You Drop” holiday events where stores are discounted over the weekends. At Hope Last but certainly not least, various holiday events happen on campus at Hope that add to the festive atmosphere of the community. Decorating the Kin tree! Making Christmas cards at Kin!
There are so many services and offices on this campus that I am sure I still do not know what all of them do, or even that they exist, but here are a few that I visit or make use of most often! CampusMinistries is in charge of Chapel and Gathering services , so the worship team that I am on runs through them.
There is also the Gathering service every Sunday on campus at Dimnent, and CampusMinistry will also host events for deeper faith formation, including several Bible studies. Benedict Institute on campus offers Catholic mass every day and the sacrament of adoration every Tuesday in St. Additionally, the St.
Winter Fantasia (a SAC-sponsored dance), Men’s Night Out and Women’s Night Out (biannual CampusMinistriesevents) and the Hope-Calvin basketball game occurred either in the past week or will occur this week. Go to a sporting event you wouldn’t think to attend!
A way that I’m going to start this conversation is by attending the event series “Life After College” which is put on by the Career Development Center , CampusMinistries , and the Senior Seminar program. For me, that means to start thinking about it.
I’ll always be able to go back and look at what I was involved in at Hope, the events I was excited about, and the places around Holland. Some of my friends are drivers for CASA, others work for CampusMinistry chaplains, work in the library, or are TAs and Peer Advisors. How much do I work in a school week?
I went to, most likely, every SAC event held, reunited with the beautiful women in my bible study, and went apple AND pumpkin picking, among other things. I owe that to Hope’s lovely CampusMinistries , and the freedom to have the choice in my religious practices here at Hope.
Hope’s campusministries played the largest part in my faith journey. I have also participated in a bible study through Hope’s campusministries, and this gave me a community that supported me through my walk with Christ, something I have never experienced before.
