Definitely! This year, were seeing about 100-120 students on average attending dorm worship, a massive improvement in comparison to the multiple dorm worships occurring throughout the week last year! Are there ways students can get involved with dorm worship, aside from going?
Some moments of my education were definitely difficult for me because my values didn’t align with everyone else’s. Every student personally chooses to be involved in CampusMinistries, the Gathering, or Bible Studies, which means that spaces of intentionality are cultivated.
7:00 PM-10:00 PM After coming back to campus and eating dinner, I headed to CampusMinistries– one of my favorite places to get work done. and got a donut to share, then headed back to CampusMinistries. Every single day at Hope is definitely not quite as packed as this one was.
According to Dictionary.com, one of the definitions of the word ‘distinct’ reads: “different in nature or quality.” For me, Hope College embodies this definition. There is also the Gathering service every Sunday on campus at Dimnent, and CampusMinistry will also host events for deeper faith formation, including several Bible studies.
Moving away from home can definitely be hard! Outside of the dorm, Counseling and Psychological Services and CampusMinistries chaplains are helpful resources that offer support in the transition to independent living. CampusMinistries staff invited my friend group to their house for dinner as we prepped for exams.
I’ve definitely found writing my blogs is a great way to wind down from schoolwork. How much downtime you have definitely depends on the campus job you have, but for me, the mailroom has been a good balance. I write when I have extra time or need a break from school. Does working make it harder to do your best in school?
Okay, so this might not exactly be Hope’s greatest mystery, BUT it (more accurately, he) was definitely a mystery at least to me for a while. As a frequent Chapel-goer and someone who was definitely interested in joining Hope’s worship team at some point, I did the obvious, and I googled him. Thanks for reading!
