In the last few years, we've had somewhere between 2-3% of students attending. It's a small number of students, but they are mighty! We work with them directly, partnering with our National Alumni Council. We bring those students in and work with them before they get to the conference. Students are no different.

Alexander oversees the legacy of the Academic Advancement Program (AAP) at UCLA, one of the longest running academic support programs for first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students. Each cohort is typically 15-20 students.
It began as a pilot program in 2015 and started in earnest in 2018 with 25 students after receiving a $1.68 million research grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). Over the past five years, EPW has served 909 students, 68% of whom are Latino. The students usually report back to us where they are employed.

Like many other PhD students my research suddenly came to a halt in March 2020 when the Covid-19 lockdown began.
