Since then, in close cooperation with the Careers Service, we have been rolling out a School-wide project to situate careers and employability alongside our firm commitment to academic rigour. In December 2017, we celebrated some of the wonderful work done as part of this by hosting our first HCA Recognition Celebration.
Students as Change Agents (SACHA) is a student-led design thinking programme that partners diverse student groups with host organisations to tackle challenges aligned to the University’s research themes and that address the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS).

Zoe’s research in the field of education has manifest itself in a number of design and teaching projects. Now, despite being physically back in the studio, we are continuing to explore online space – just like our industry counterparts.
It is useful to have students write fortnightly reflective diaries during their placements. They are useful as a tool of reflection during the placement but many students return to them when writing their dissertations, to remind themselves how their research design evolved.

Over the last 20 years as the Programme Director of Graphic Design within Edinburgh College of Art’s (ECA) Design School I have been accustomed to teaching a wide range of students with diverse backgrounds from across the UK. Since that time she has maintained her professional practice and developed her research in the field of education.
Throughout this project, I researched technical aspects of solar energy generation as well as current UK energy policy, and I was required to do cash flow analysis. The nature of this exercise advanced my analytical abilities as I developed a much greater understanding of project financials and the proposing of business solutions.
