Some moments of my education were definitely difficult for me because my values didn’t align with everyone else’s. Every student personally chooses to be involved in CampusMinistries, the Gathering, or Bible Studies, which means that spaces of intentionality are cultivated.
I also work for the Hope Admissions Blog, writing pieces like the one you’re reading right now! I’ve always loved writing — and I love Hope — so writing for the Admissions Blog has also been such a special thing for me. I’ve definitely found writing my blogs is a great way to wind down from schoolwork.
According to Dictionary.com, one of the definitions of the word ‘distinct’ reads: “different in nature or quality.” For me, Hope College embodies this definition. There is also the Gathering service every Sunday on campus at Dimnent, and CampusMinistry will also host events for deeper faith formation, including several Bible studies.
Moving away from home can definitely be hard! Outside of the dorm, Counseling and Psychological Services and CampusMinistries chaplains are helpful resources that offer support in the transition to independent living. CampusMinistries staff invited my friend group to their house for dinner as we prepped for exams.
