The for-profit sector is a great example of where there has been significant mergers and acquisitions activity, e.g., Purdue and Kaplan forming Purdue Global , Strayer University acquiring Capella, etc., as for-profits figure out their future when nonprofits are clearly in favor (and for-profits are clearly out-of-favor).
