Friday marked the 34th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a landmark civil rights law that unlocked opportunity for disabled people in many areas of public life, including in the workforce and higher education. colleges and universities has grown steadily since the ADA passed more than three decades ago.

Once a student enters college, however, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, or Section 504, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) take over.
