This position, in what was then Academic Services, came open, and we revamped it into a student success division. My [academic] path was such twists and turns that I wouldn’t have been measured well by retention or graduation rates. I loved the back-and-forth banter. That’s not what student success is.
It took a year for me to make a match, but when I saw an ad for a job as an academicadviser to language and linguistics majors at Georgetown, I immediately knew that I was going to get the job. Twenty-five years later, I’m still at Georgetown, in a much different position, but still working to support student academic life.
