For over a decade, students have worked alongside staff at the college’s career center to provide professional development help for the larger campus community, part of a long-standing institutional tradition.

CC0 [Pixabay] For a number of years now, the School of History, Classics and Archaeology (HCA) has been working closely with the CareersService to help address the question every arts and humanities students faces at some point in their career: ‘So your degree; what are you going to do with that?
Helen Stringer Helen Stringer is Assistant Director of the CareersService, and has a remit for developing academic partnerships. Helen also manages a team of careers consultants, and worked with Dr Lynsey Russell-Watts – careers consultant for ECA – on the career resilience project.

She manages the Student Support Services’ annual review process.

Gavin is the Careers and Employability Manager from the CareersService and this post forms part of the 20 Years of Enhancement theme. After the Theme this helped give birth to two toolkits on topics essential to student development, employability, and success.

This was a big step in students taking control of their own learning and project managing with many different stakeholders. Creative problem solving, risk taking, lateral thinking, communication, project management, amongst the many core design skills this student employed in order to fulfil this unique ‘task’. For the majority of students the destination is a job where soft skills and project management are probably valued higher than memorisation and quick essay writing skills (although such skills are essential in academia, too). May 22, 2018
Through providing more formative feedback I hoped to demonstrate the elements of a good action plan and how to make a good action plan better, thus equipping students with skills for lifelong careermanagement and increasing their chances of achieving their goals.
Although a for-profit institution, Post University employs a unique and effective two-fold approach to its career readiness model to ensure graduates are career-ready with lifelong learning skills that “not-for-profit” universities can emulate on their campuses.

Quality student support services, access to careerservices, the experience of being on site again, has given many of them confidence to use prior learning assessment. Maybe I want to move up.
